A FASHIONABLY FABULOUS YEAR!

It has been the most wonderful year at PDG. We were just voted
Best Design Firm
for Best of Our Valley by Arizona Foothills Magazine.

This holiday season one of our recently designed homes was the background for the Arizona Foothills Magazine December Fashion Shoot. PDG designed this set for their Holiday Issue.

The spectacular dining room, seats up to 20 people, and gave a large space to photograph. The two chandeliers make for a great backdrop for holiday high fashion.

We are extremely grateful for our family and friends and all of your continued support. This year has been filled with amazing projects and partnerships. Lets ring in the New Year and all it has to bring.

Happy Holidays!

We will be closed from Dec 24-Jan 2

THANKSGIVING

As you get ready to celebrate Thanksgiving with Family and friends here are some ideas...

  • Our favorite pumpkins are the Albino Fairytale pumpkins, which can be found at your local Trader Joe's.  You can use them as a centerpiece and have a simple arrangement.  They can also be used later in pumpkin soup.
  • For the table settings, we use custom place mats in pleather from PDG in a variety of colors and textures.  The ones pictured are a champagne color that go well with a dark wood table.
  • Our Rustic Faience plates were made on a trip to Provence to a place called Moustier.  Stay at La Bastide de Moustier and go to Faience to order these plates.  It is a beautiful place and the food is amazing.
  • Silverware is from Tiffany and is an old classic – great weight and simple.
  • Glassware is from Ralph Lauren.  We use their water goblets as an all purpose wine/water glass.
  • The embroidered napkins are designed to match the plates, can also be ordered through PDG. For an outside source,  Jan de Luz in Napa doeas an extraordinary job.

We hope you have a happy Thanksgiving with family and friends!

TAKE A POWDER

We love working on powder rooms. They are small and compact, but pack a punch visually in a home.

OUTDOOR LIVING

Outdoor living can be just as important as setting up great entertaining spaces indoors.  Here are some of our suggestions for creating an environment to entertain and relax in.

Images from Palm Design Group
Dining – Be sure to place outdoor dining convenient to the kitchen or outdoor kitchen.  It makes for much more relaxed entertaining when convenience is a factor.

LightingHurricanes can be used to light walkways, set ambiance in a grouping for seating, or light a dining table.  Use the new LED flameless candles.  And you don’t have to buy multiple hurricanes, move them around based on your needs.  Outdoor hanging lanterns can also be set on a dimmer to set the mood.
Fabric – With the Arizona sun, using a durable outdoor fabric is a must!  We love Perennials.  It comes in a variety of colors and can be luxurious or vibrant, whatever suits the home.  We can help guide you to the right selection and order this to-the-trade only line.  Use an accent color from the house to base either the main or accessory pillows from.  This way, the inside and out are in harmony.
Seat Groupings – Create a conversation pit.  Be certain there is adequate seating and tables for the groups you like to entertain.  Extra wide and deep seating helps keep it casual.
Create A Hideaway – A shady, remote part of the garden can seem like a world away from the chaos of what’s going on in the rest of the yard on a busy day.  Set up a small table and chairs of a lounge chair and ottoman to enjoy these relaxing spaces.

A BIG DREAM FOR YOUNG WOMEN

Palm Design Group was recently involved in the Phoenix Dream Center Project, a Shelter for women who are victims of sex trafficking.  Human trafficking profits are greater than the proceeds from the NFL and NBA combined and is a multi-billion dollar industry.  It is slavery and abduction of young women at its worst.

The average age of victims of human trafficking is 13 and their life expectancy is only 34.

Palm Design Group, along with 9 other top interior designers in Arizona, created a suite in the shelter with the help of many of our generous design partners who tirelessly gave their time and resources to create the modern sanctuary.  We would like to thank Rysso Petters, Jose Pajon Tile Install, Sam Pratt Studio & Jerry's Artarama, Clayton Floor Covering & Design, Lifestyles Upholstery, Waterworks, Clyde Hardware, Phoenix Forge, Mac's Custom Drapery, Handle With Care Moving Services, Best Lil Frame Shop, Hibner Painting, H&R Fabrics, SR Drost, Surface Concepts, Mid City Glass, On the Veranda, WinterHaven, Peter Tomas Designs, Rust and Roses and Tierra Del Lagarto.

The Theme of our room is BELIEVE- Empowered Modern Living. This will become a sanctuary for over 300 young women a year who are rescued from this human travesty.

INSPIRATIONS FOR A TIMELESS KITCHEN

We love kitchens and like to create something that you can enjoy all day long. Whether you are cooking or just hanging out – this is a kitchen that you can enjoy for years. Our top design prerequisites were:

  • Lots of Light - That was created by dormer windows, double french doors and windows
  • Floors with Patina- the floor is a basketweave pattern in reclaimed brick that has a beautiful softness in color and wear
  • Hanging Lanterns- were inspired by lanterns from the Loire Valley in France with aged glass.
  • Wood Beams- ground the high ceilings and add a historic feel
  • Painted Cabinets with a beautiful glaze add to the lightness
  • Countertops are limestone and slate colored that are functional and give a natural look
  • Lots of comfortable seating
  • The hutch hides a large screen TV, wine refrigerator, and storage

As a design firm we are committed to making our homes unique and believe that design matters.
